Buyer's guide

How a break works and what happens to your cards.

01 What a break is

Sealed boxes of cards are opened on camera. The teams are split into spots and sold separately, and every card goes to whoever holds the spot for that team.

You are buying a team's cards out of these boxes — not a named card, and not a guaranteed value.

Claim a spot Pay Watch the break Ask for your cards It ships Your cards are kept safely until you ask for them.

02 The seven formats

The format decides whether you choose your team or it is drawn.

FormatHow you get a team Know before paying?
PYTYou choose it. Popular teams cost more.Yes
RandomEvery spot costs the same; teams are drawn. No
POGOYou pick one team, the draw adds a second. You know one
DIVYA whole division, every team in it.Yes
Random DIVYA division, drawn. No
PersonalEverything in the boxes is yours.Yes
Numbered spotsNo teams — card games like Pokémon. You pick a number, and the cards are dealt to the numbers on camera. Nothing to know

A mixer has more than one sport in it. On the Claims Sheet, spots reading team drawn at break time have not been decided yet.

03 Claiming a spot

Open a break and press Claim. The spot is yours from that moment, not from when you pay. Two people cannot end up with the same team.

On a Random break there is nothing to pick — every spot is the same until the draw — so you choose how many spots instead. Some breaks limit how many one person can take; the page says so when they do.

You press Claim without an account Held for 5 minutes nobody else can take it It becomes yours when you finish signing up Run out of time and the spot just reopens. Nothing is charged.

Pay to lock breaks say so on the page — an unpaid claim expires and the spot reopens. Otherwise your spot is held until you pay.

Cart shows what you are holding and the total.

05 Paying

Payment happens off this site, by PayPal or Venmo. You get a QR code and a link with the right amount already in it.

Once you have sent it, press I've paid. It shows as fully paid when the breaker confirms the money arrived. One press covers your whole cart.

Nobody from Really Bad Breaks will ever ask you for card details, a password or a sign-in code. Pay only to the handles shown on the site.

06 Getting your cards

Paid cards sit in your stack until you ask for them. There is no hurry — a stack ships as one parcel, so waiting is cheaper.

Two breaks, shipped separately or together
Separately$14.00
In one stack$7.00

Press Ship my stack in My claims and confirm the address. When it goes out you get an email with the carrier and tracking number.

The front page shows recent big hits — if one is yours, that is your name on it. Replays in the top bar has every break we have opened on camera.

07 The draw

For Random spots, the teams are assigned by a draw once the break fills.

The draw runs from a stored seed, so it can be re-run later and checked against what was recorded. It can only happen once.

The Provenance page in the footer sets out what this site can and cannot prove.

08 If something looks wrong

Use Something wrong on this page? at the foot of any page — it files a report with the page and break already attached.
